A march to support gay rights
and anti-discrimination passed
through the "Spine" and proceeded
out onto Founder's Plaza Wednesday morning. There, marchers
gathered to hear speakers, including Isabelle Marcus, assistant dean
the of UB Law School.
Following the speakers, gay
musicians performed for the crowd.
About 150 individuals partici-

pated in the march, according to
Amy Belscher, a spokesperson for
the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Alliance, the organization that organized the event. Many of the marchers bore signs in support of gay
rights.
"It was a chance to confront all
of those nameless, faceless persons
who spread anti-gay propaganda,"
Belscher said. "Nobody opposed
us."
Thorn Kulesa, a member of the
LGBA, said, "One of the purposes
of the rally was to show the amount

of support we have at UB for ending discrimination and prejudice."
The LGBA, which consists of
about 60 members, arranged the
march as partof"Gay Rights, Antidiscrimination Day." Additional
sponsors included: the Student
Association of the State University, the GraduateS tudent Association and the Independents.
"The march made a good statement- that we won't tolerate discrimination," Belscher said.
